Chicago Bears fire head trainer Nate Breske

When you think of the Chicago Bears, you probably think of injuries that have practically doomed the team for the last three consecutive seasons. Now, the Bears' executives have decided to let Head Coach Nate Breske part ways.

Breske had been with the Bears since 2015 and now he is giving up.

When you look at the numbers, it is probably easier to imagine why the team decided to let Nate Breske go.  The team has placed 37 players on the season that ended up with the season-ending injured reserve list.  Now, some of these injuries went from freak to normal football sessions.  Still, 37 players is a really hard number to understand and the conclusion is that the work being done in simply not working.

“We did a lot to address it last year, whether schedule changes, tracking data, a lot of tweaks,” Pace said earlier this month after coach John Fox was let go. “But it wasn’t enough.”

So, this is a no return for Coach Breske.  Coaches Jason George and assistant strength and conditioning Coach Rick Perry will not be returning either. During Breske's debut season he saw 16 players on injured reserve followed by 21 players in 2016.

Recently, General Manager Ryan Pace said, “With parity in our league, injuries play a big factor in our results. It’s something we have to get on top of and that’s my job. There’s going to be studies into why are these teams the healthiest, why are these teams not, and are there some commonalities? But we have to get that fixed because it’s affecting our results.”

It is the job of new Head Coach Matt Nagy to try and reduce the number of injured players per season, a number that the Chicago Bears seems determined to increase every season.
